More pictures to come when I've downloaded then to the netbook!
After a great flight to Christchurch we stopped on the outskirts for a night while Jen and Bobby caught us up and then we drove to Queenstown. Queenstown is in the middle of the central spine of mountains on the south island.
The scenery is just stunning, the town is just full of adrenalin junkies and you can take your pick of just about any form of activity to scare you witless (that was carefully typed). Think of Keswick on a massive dose of steroids. It is full of people wanting to do crazy sports - parachuting, jet boating in canyons, surfing in rapids, paragliding, etc, etc. As well as more normal hiking and camping. The shops are full of goretex and carabiners
It sits by the side of a lake that is 75km long and 1350ft deep, Windermere is 16km and 200ft deep, so its a big lump of water.
Chiar lifts to the top of a luge ride - big kid time yet again.
I think we have been lucky with the weather as its been nothing but clear blue skys and beep blue water for the last few days.
New Years Eve was great, a decent meal, jazz boat cruise on the lake and then back to Queenstown for fireworks and a live band. At this point my eyes read full and we tripped off back to the hostel while Jen and Bobby carried on. Even got to wear a jacket.
Seen in the car park on New Years Day morning.
New Years day and Carole and I went on a tour of the mountainside by zip wire, ended up on the longest and fastest tree zip wire in the world. Top fun especially upside down at 30 mph through the trees.
Jen and Bobby doing a skydive tomorrow, she's promised to tell me where she'll be landing so that I can go and catch her!
