This coastal road trip has got to be one of the prettiest in the world, the Oregon coast was stunning but it got better as we travelled south to California. Highway 101 from Portland and then onto Highway 1 - a must do drive.
We found glorious view after stunning view, great wild life and empty roads. Shame I was driving a Dodge Avenger and not Carole's MX5 with the top down.
The road swung inland into the giant redwood forests, Bigfoot country, we even had elk cossing the road. These trees are huge, so big that at one place we saw a house that had been made by carving out a single log, like a long caravan complete with several rooms and 7ft headroom.
Returning to more coastline before we finally drove across the Goldon Gate Bridge into San Francisco.
We've seen bald eagles, turkey vultures, pelicans, seals, sealions and elk over the last couple of days, we missed out on the bear and cougar in the area, but pretty good wildlife considering we weren't really trying.
