Singapore - Part 2

Decided to have a day off today and a bit of a lie in - it never works out like that does it.

The plan was to have a lazy afternoon at the Botanic Gardens and get back for dinner and an early night.

The gardens were fabulous, for man who thinks that a good day in a garden must involve a chain saw that is saying something. Beautiful and elegant, we walked for miles, and then there was the National Orchid Collection on top.  The photos say it all really.

Some sort of Kingfisher that we watched catching fish in the lake.

Orchids, can't help but take hundreds of pictures.

Bob and Jan's tenner have a glass of wine at the National Orchid Collection.

On the way back to town Carole decided she needed some pampering and we ended up in one of he big shopping malls for her to have her nails done - 2 hours later, just what do they do in these places, it had gone dark and the mall was having a "snow" party for the kids.

The nails did look good though. Although by the time they were done I'd drunk enough coffee to recharge any man and was game for a good walk around the city at night.

We ended up at Raffles Place, the heart of the financial district, then off to Boat Quay so that Bob and Jan's Tenner could have a G&T.

After wandering around the district for a while we stopped at one of the Hawker Centres for some great steamed Japanese food, good food and cheap.

All in all a grand day out!
