Last full day in Singapore so we decided to go out in style.
Leisurely breakfast, wander around the area, drop the washing off at the laundry (real style!) then back to hotel to get the glad rags on.
We dropped in at the Raffles Hotel for a couple of their famous Singapore Sling cocktails. Bob and Jan's tenner had one too.
Then high tea at the hotel - excellent service and great food in colonial surroundings, had to have the champagne - in for a penny in for a hundred....
We then went off to the Marina Bay Theatre for the opening night of the musical Wicked - the real story behind the Wicked Witch of the East in the Land of Oz.
This is the facetted wall of the reception area.
Mirrors are tricky things.
The set of the show.
Great show, recommend you go and see it - its on in London at the moment but what an excuse to come to Singapore.
Final thoughts on Singapore, well great place to spend a few days and when I say spend thats what I mean. I reckon that that the week here cost the same as the previous 4 weeks in India and Vietnam, but it was worth it for the experience. It the cleanest, best run, most orderly city we have ever been in, but that doesn't mean its souless, just that everything is built on a huge scale for the sake of efficiency and making money. And it really knows how to make money.
The food has been astounding, it puts the UK to shame, everything is immaculately clean and well presented, cooked to order with style, and its cheap to eat really well.
Off to Australia tomorrow, an overnight flight and then we'll meet up with Jen after 11 months.
