Camper van trip to Scotland

This year our camper van trip took us around the south west of Scotland to many places that we'd sailed to in past years. It brought back some great memories of big racing fleets cramming into tiny harbours and some of the best sailing cruises ever, as well as some top seafood.

We visited our friend Chris and Heather in their new home just north of Castle Douglas before meeting up with John and Coleen near Glasgow.  Carole had a tennis match just south of Glasgow - Cumbria got beaten by SW Scotland Vets.

We then headed off around the Clyde on the Calmac ferries.  It turned into a seafood fest! We found top seafood everywhere, some of the best came from a small wooden hut near the ferry from Kintyre to Arran set in the grounds of Skipness castle.

This gorge is just a short way from Glasgow and was used for the filming of the Highlander TV series.

The lump of rock is the Devil's Pulpit

It was cold!

View from the campsite towards Largs.

View of the Kyles of Bute - beautiful; even in typical Scottish summer.

Tarbert - my favourite sailing destination, Carole chatted up the harbour master and we were allowed to stay on the quayside for free, they even booked a restaurant table for us.  Some of the best seafood in the world here.

CalMac ferry trip

What a beauty - didn't get in the water though!

View from the campsite on the southern tip of Arran,  Ailsa Craig in the distance.

We got up early to see the sea otters  - but they saw us first.

Loads of seals around Arran

I still think this one is real and not the stone statue its supposed to be.
