Dave's Denia Walking Trip September

My walking trip with the boys was to Denia this year, handy as the boat was only 50 miles away in Alicante. I went out early and did some jobs on the boat - there's always jobs to do on a boat - before meeting up with the boys at Alicante airport.  There was seven of us this year, bit less than normal, although next year is the 10th anniversary of Tagg's Tours.  And as he says, no one's died yet so he has a 100% success rate!

It was so hot we actually cut a couple of the walks short as we couldn't carry enough water, just meant that we ended up hydrating in the bars near the hotel a little earlier than planned - not such a good plan!

First walk, started easy

But as usual we went up

and up.

Found these "White" caves, nice but smelled of goat, a lot!

What a crew - and we don't look a day older or a pound heavier....

How true!

Traditional Friday breakfast with flat breads and salad - the chillies were seriously hot - very unusual for Spain

Cliff walk around Javea

Our day off this time meant that Geoff booked a days kayaking - strange as Geoff doesn't do water, swimming or paddling

We paddled to some caves, some 300m deep, which the locals used to quarry a high grade rock for the local monuments, great snorkelling too.

Back to the hills! You can just see Benidorm in the distance.

We don't do flat.

Another cliff walk which was supposed to be a gentle one due to the heat but ended up being a fairly tough scramble up the cliffs from the beach below - great fun.

Anything to help Geoff navigate!

Another great walking week - 10th Anniversary next year! Mallorca here we come.
